Dr. Prabir Kumar Das from Lata Medical Research Foundation, Nagpur elected as National President of Indian Public Health Association

Dr. Prabir Kumar Das, retired Deputy Director of Health Services, Nagpur and presently Country Coordinator, Lata Medical Research Foundation has recently been elected as national President of Indian Public Health Association (IPHA) for a period of three years (2016-18) at annual national conference held at Dehradun, Uttarakhand. Dr. Das is one of the most active members of Indian Public Health Association for last 25 years and was President of Vidarbha branch of IPHA and Joint Secretary as well as Vice President of west zone of IPHA.

Dr. Das did his MBBS and MD from Government Medical College, Nagpur in addition to four more post graduation in different subjects and worked in Public Health Department for almost 32 years. He penned some books, written many chapters in training modules and published more than 65 health related articles in various papers and periodicals.

Dr. Prabir Kumar Das is the recipient of many awards and fellowships like: two gold medals and two silver medals from Government of Maharashtra, Young Scientist Award, Best Citizen of India, Vidarbha Bhushan Award, WHO Fellowship, IPHA Fellowship, Moulana Azad Fellowship etc.

Free Diabetes Detection Camp

Lata Medical Research Foundation, Nagpur in association with “Sindhi Social Forum” and “Poojya Sindhi Panchayat, Khamla” organized a “Free Diabetes Detection Camp” for Blood sugar, Blood pressure, Obesity and bone Densitometry on 20th and 21st February 2016 at Gurusangat Darbar, Sindhi Colony, Khamla and Baba Khatiyawale Hall, Mekosabagh, Nagpur respectively.

Dr.Hemant Kulkarni , Dr.Manju Mamtani from LMRF, Dr. Vinky Rughwani, (President, Vidarbha Sindhi Vikas Parishad), Mr.Peshuram Dara, Mr.Narayan Ahuja, Mr. Kishan Lalwani and the LMRF team of  Doctors and Social Workers have successfully conducted these camps and screened nearly 500 individuals.

Dr. Archana Patel, Dr. Samreen Sadaf Khan and Ms. Amrita Puranik attended the ” International Conference on Maternal and Child Nutrition, and the 9th Regional Meeting of the SAIFRN from 23rd to 27th November, 2015.
This conference was organized by  ‘The South Asia Infant Feeding Research Network (SAIFRN)’, ‘UNICEF’ and the ‘Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’, ‘Australian High Commission Sri Lanka’, in collaboration with the ‘University of Colombo’ and ‘University of Sydney’.

These events aimed to accelerate transition from research to effective program  delivery by bringing together researchers, policy makers, community and civil stakeholders and development partners.
